Luxury Glamping

Idyllic & romantic getaways for two

Our four luxe-pods offer stylish, modern living, with iconic curved walls to the rear and wall-to-ceiling sliding glass doors to the front, with uninterrupted views to the countryside.

Surrounded by Corsican pine trees, meadow flowers, and orchard, our pods sit within a seven acre haven in the Wye Valley, with the peaks of the Brecon Beacons just beyond the horizon.

Although designed for couples, we can provide a travel cot for an infant or a single duvet on the sofa for a child.

Well-behaved dogs are welcome at Cynefin Retreats (one dog per pod).

This is several rungs up from glamping. There is a hot tub on the deck, underfloor heatings, one of those frying pan sized shower heads, a smooth, handleless kitchen, and crockery from Sophie Conran’s range for Portmeirion.

Dog Friendly

As dog owners ourselves, we understand that your dog is a member of the family, and VIPs (Very Important Pooches!) are welcomed at Cynefin Retreats with as much warmth as their owners.

You and your canine companion will have a tail-wagging time exploring the local area and the wealth of walking opportunities nearby. Our woodland adjoins a public footpath leading directly onto the Wye Valley Walk– a fabulous path that leads directly into Hay-on-Wye and beyond. The Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons are nearby which are fantastic for scenic dog walks.

We welcome one well-behaved dog per pod, for the price of £30 per stay.

We do have a few simple pooch-related rules in order to ensure that Cynefin Retreats is an idyllic holiday destination for everyone:

  • We accept one dog per luxe-pod, for a small fee of £30, and up to two dogs per luxe-lodge for a fee of £30 for one dog and £45 for two dogs.
  • Please keep your dog(s) out of the bedrooms. For our two-storey luxe-lodges, this means we ask that dogs are not allowed upstairs. A stairgate will be provided which we ask that you to keep closed at all times.
  • Ideally, we ask that dogs are not allowed on the sofa. If your dog is accustomed to sofa snuggles, please use the blanket(s).
  • Do not leave your dog unattended in any of our properties – new environments can cause much distress, particularly on warm days when our accommodations do heat up if the windows and doors are not open.
  • Any dog mess must be cleared up and disposed of immediately, either into the hedge using the shovel provided, or using dog mess bags. Dog mess bags can be disposed of in the large black rubbish bins by our car park. Please do not leave them behind for our housekeeping team to throw away.
  • There is livestock in the fields surrounding Cynefin Retreats. Please ensure your dog is supervised and kept under control at all times when in and around Cynefin Retreats.
  • When taking your dog for a walk, please follow the country code and keep to the public footpath at all times. Please keep your dog on a lead when in close vicinity to livestock.
  • When returning from muddy walks, please use the hose provided to rinse muddy paws. A communal warm water hose is located on the building by the car park, or a cold water hose can be found on the other side of your privacy screen by the hot tub. Please use the towel provided to dry off wet paws before allowing your dog back inside.
  • Dogs must be older than 12 months – no playful pups, sorry, even if they are very cute!
  • You will be liable in the unlikely event of any damage or if excess cleaning is required as a result of your dog(s).

We know that dogs can be quite picky about their home comforts so we trust that you’ll bring their bed, blankets, and food with you. However, you’ll find water bowls and food bowls in each property for you to use during your stay, along with a towel for drying muddy paws, and blanket(s) for covering the sofa/armchairs.

With an entire perimeter wall made of floor to ceiling windows. The countryside is the stage and you are an audience member to nature. Horses and cows in fields, sunrises and sunsets to bookend your day, and a blanket of twinkly stars in the evening. It is such a treat.
